In what must seem like a summer ritual to the folks in Easely, South Carolina, the Big League boys from Thousand Oaks were there for the fifth time in seven years to compete for the World Series Championship!

Unfortunately, as in 2003 and 2005, the 2009 team won the US title but lost the World Series Championship game.

Thousand Oaks started their tournament season in the District 13 Championships with 10-3 and 9 - 2 victories over Sunset.  They advanced to the Division 3 championships where they went undefeated winning 7-0 vs South El Monte, 6-3 against Buena Park, 8-4 against Chino Hills and 6-0 against South El Monte again to seal the Division 3 Championships.

They opened up the Western Region Championships in strong fashion with an 18-0 drubbing over Oregon followed  by another 18-0 win over the Bremerton, WA  host team before taking a tight 7-6 victory over Arizona.   Their 3-0 pool play record earned them a spot in the championship round.  They beat Hawaii 7-1 and won the Western Region Championship with a 4-3 victory over Nevada to earn a berth in the World Series Tournament.

The team beat South Carolina 5-3, Florida 2-0 and Illinois 4-1 and then lost their first tournament game to Louisiana 10-4 to wrap up pool play.  Their 3-1 record qualified them for the US Championship game where they beat Louisiana 4-2 to advance to the World Series game.

The humidity and the tenacity of the team from the Dominican Republic took it's toll on the TO boys.  Their pitchers struggled with control and they  fell behind early, eventually losing 12-0.

The boys finished tournament play with an impressive 15-2 record.

The heartbreak of getting so close is tough on the players, parents and coaching staff.  But, if recent history proves anything, THEY WILL BE BACK!

Congratulations on the great season!
