2008 a BANNER year for PHLL Seniors

2008 was a BANNER year for the Seniors of Port Hueneme Little League!
Port Hueneme Little League's Senior League All-Star team finished just short of advancing to the Senior League World Series. They lost in the if-necessary game of the WESTERN REGION tournament to the team from Pearl City, Hawaii by a score of 11-1 a day after having beat that same team by a 10-5 score. Port Hueneme finished the Region Tournament with a 3-2 record, with both losses at the hands of the Hawaiians. They lost to them on August 2nd 1-0 as well.
The 15 and 16 year old boys from Port Hueneme opened tournament play at the Sub-Division 3 North Tournament in strong fashion. They easily handled Tri-Park in a 12-1 victory before besting Buena Park 13-3. They won the championship with a 19-7 victory over Tri-Park in that tournament held in Palmdale.
They advanced to the Division 3 championships again held in Palmdale against Patriot National. They took 2 of 3 games in that double elimination tournament winning by scores of 17-4 and 5-3 while losing the middle game by a 7-4 score.
The Division 3 championship earned them a berth into the Western Region Tournament held in Ontario, CA. They opened play with a 13-2 demolishing of the team from Las Vegas, NV. They followed that up with a 16-0 victory over the team from Sitka Alaska.They finished up the tournament with a 1-0 loss, 10-5 win and 11-1 loss to the Pearl City team. The two losses in that tournament eliminated them from further play.
The team consisted of Jose Hernandez Jr.-Captain, Jesus Valdez-Captain, Dom Guevarra, Manuel Perez, JJ Lujan, Allen Ewold, Raul Mosqueda, Brandon Solis, Ryan Price, Brandon Hernandez, Jon John Enriquez, Wesley Lienemann and Joey Duarte.
Manager: Jose Hernandez, Coaches: JJ Gastelum, Jaime Guevarra, Bart Lujan and the Team Mom was Darlene Hernandez.
